MEMBER of Parliament for Ulawa -Ugi constituency, Hon. William .B. Marau has successfully completed his first shipment of hardware materials for his constituency.

The Ulawa Ugi constituency Development Officer (CDO), Mr. Alvin Pehu said that a total of 121 people in the constituency will be receiving roofing irons under the housing scheme program of the constituency.

“A total of 121 constituents will receive roofing irons to build their house on this first trip”, Ulawa Ugi CDO confirmed.

He also said that the constituency office has agreed that ten are to be distributed in Honiara, five down to Noro, 60 houses are to be distributed on Ulawa Island, 40 on Ugi island whilst the remaining six are for those who resides in Kirakira.

“According to the distribution plan of the constituency office in Honiara, a total of 100 houses are to be distributed to constituents living on Ulawa and Ugi Island, six for those in Kirakira, 10 in Honiara, and the remaining five down to Noro for those in the Ulawa Ugi constituency who have settled in the western province”, the CDO confirmed.

Mr. Alvin said that the total cost of all the materials is about $1.5 million dollars and they were procured from the New Hope Enterprises in Honiara.

“The total cost of all the hardware materials shipped is approximately $1.5 million dollars paid from the New Hope Enterprises which is one of the preferred suppliers”, he said.

The CDO further added that more materials are to be delivered later in the coming months before 2021 ends.

“Hardware materials like bags of cement, steel rods, mesh wires nails and others will be shipped later depending on space on the Ulawa Ugi constituency ship, LC. Lokoiola soon”, he said.

“In addition to that, more coppers are yet to be shipped later and these are from the constituency warehouse in Honiara because we now have the machine for copper at our warehouse at Lunnga”, he said.

Mr. Pehu also said that this time, the house plan under the Ulawa Ugi constituency housing scheme program will be bigger compared to the past years where the length of the roofing irons distributed was only 12 feet long compared to this time round which is 14 feet long.

The hardware materials were shipped on LC. Lokoiola which was also owned by the Ulawa Ugi constituency.
