SOLOMON Islands Rural Development Program (SIRDP) has successfully completed handing over of six projects on Ulawa Island in the Makira Ulawa province today.
The delegation, which comprises of members from the Makira Ulawa Provincial Government led by the Deputy premier and MPA for North Ulawa ward, Hon. Davis Maemae, the Minister of commerce and MPA for ward three, Hon. Brook Wa’o, the MUP minister of health and Medical services and MPA for ward 18, Hon. Benson Piringi, other Makira Ulawa Provincial senior staff and the staff from the Solomon Islands Rural Development Program staffs led by the SIRDP component one (C1) coordinator, Ms. Freda Siwainao and the Makira Ulawa SIRDP Team Leader, Mrs. Annie Rafeasi arrived on Ulawa last week and commenced the handing over ceremonies on Friday 15th October with Aleale community water supply and sanitation project in the ward two on Ulawa Island.
The delegation then continues to Haau- water supply and sanitation project, Rongo lelei community water supply and sanitation project, Haraina Kindy staff house project, Aosi community water supply and sanitation project and the Ripo community Early Childhood Education (ECE) classroom.
Three of the projects were under the cycle five projects and they are Haau- community water supply and sanitation project, Rongo lelei community water supply and sanitation project and the Aosi community water supply and sanitation project whilst the other three are from the cycle six projects and they are Haraina Kindy staff house project, Ripo ECE Classroom building project and the Aleale community water supply and sanitation project.
In his speech during the Haraina Kindy staff house project handing over ceremony, the MUP Deputy premier and MPA for North Ulawa ward, Hon. Davis Maemae says that he is very happy indeed for the achievements he has witnessed in the three wards on Ulawa Island and says that Solomon Islands Rural Development Program (SIRDP) has really contributed a lot in developing and making changes to the lives of the people of Ulawa Island and Makira Ulawa province as a whole.
“On behalf of the people of Ulawa Island in the Makira Ulawa province, I would like to acknowledge donor partners through SIRDP for the funding support they have given for the people of Ulawa for development”, Honorable Davis Maemae says.
The handing over programs of the six SIRDP projects on Ulawa Island concluded today at Ripo community, where they officially handed over to the Ripo community ECE Classroom building.
