Preparations are underway in Takwaisae as Zone 3 of Buma Parish, under the Auki Diocese in West Kwaio, gets ready to host its first-ever Jubilee Cross celebration on December 21, 2025.

A Jubilee Cross is a special cross made to mark a Jubilee Year—a time of grace, forgiveness, and spiritual renewal in the Catholic Church. Traditionally celebrated every 50 years, Zone 3 is marking its Jubilee Cross at 25 years, making this event a first for the parish.

Catechist Michael Ruma’a said the celebration will bring all Zone 3 communities together for prayer and unity. “It is a time for our communities to come together in faith. Takwaisae will have the honour of hosting the Jubilee Cross this year, and everyone is looking forward to it,” he said.

Preparations at the church grounds are progressing well, with community members busy leveling the area where the cross will be installed. The Jubilee Cross serves as a symbol of repentance, mercy, and spiritual renewal. It may take the form of a crucifix, medallion, or other special items reflecting the Jubilee’s message.

Ruma’a said the event will be a significant milestone for the parish. “This celebration reminds us of God’s mercy and calls us to strengthen our faith together as a community,” he added.

As December 21 approaches, excitement continues to grow in Takwaisae. The event is expected to unite the Zone 3 faithful in a historic celebration, marking a moment of pride and spiritual reflection for the entire community.
