Communities in the Savo-Russell Constituency (SRC) have received fiberglass boats and Outboard Motors (OBMs) to ease transportation difficulties and support livelihoods.

The project, funded by the constituency’s CDF budget for 2025, includes 11 boats and 11 Yamaha OBMs, costing over SBD800,000.

Six communities have already received their equipment, with the rest to follow. CDO George Hassar emphasized the project’s role in improving socio-economic conditions, allowing access to markets, education, work, and health services.

The SRC office is also implementing housing projects, supporting small businesses, and providing educational support, including scholarships. The CDF program, administered by the Ministry of Rural Development (MRD), aims to improve the social and economic livelihoods of all Solomon Islanders
