After 19 years and three months of dedicated service, the Generation team at Solomon Power bid a heartfelt farewell to one of its longest-serving Mechanical Fitters, Andrew Buga.

Andrew’s journey began at Selwyn College, where he completed his secondary education in 1988, graduating from Form 5. Following his schooling, he ventured into the workforce, first joining Solomon Taiyo before moving on to the marine sector.

Reflecting on those early years, Andrew would often say with a smile, “I am a seaman,” a simple statement that captured his hardworking spirit and deep connection to the sea.

In 2006, Andrew brought his skills and experience to Solomon Power, joining the Generation Department as a Mechanical Fitter. Over nearly two decades, he became a familiar and respected figure within the team, known not only for his technical expertise but also for his positive attitude and unwavering commitment.

The Generation team at Solomon Power bid a heartfelt farewell to one of its longest-serving Mechanical Fitters, Andrew Buga.

“I have seen a lot of changes happen in SIEA, now known as Solomon Power. Here we staff are very lucky and I am so happy to have been able to work here, it is the best place to work,” Andrew shared as he reflected on his time with the organization. Having witnessed the transition from SIEA to Solomon Power and the many developments within the company, Andrew remained proud to have played a part in its growth and progress.

Beyond the workplace, Andrew is a devoted family man. He is married and blessed with seven children—five boys and two girls—as well as two grandchildren. His dedication to his family mirrors the same faithfulness and responsibility he has shown throughout his career.

As he steps into retirement, Andrew leaves behind not just years of service, but a legacy of diligence, humility, and cheerfulness. Always one with a warm smile and an easygoing nature, he brought lightness to the workplace and camaraderie to his colleagues.

He leaves his fellow employees with simple but powerful advice: enjoy the work you are paid to do and carry out your duties faithfully.

Solomon Power Chief Engineer, Joshua Suiramo, expressed sincere appreciation for Andrew’s contribution. He thanked Andrew for his many years of loyal service and wished him well in his new endeavors. Andrew Buga will be greatly missed by the Generation team and all who had the privilege
