THE Solomon Islands National Cybersecurity Policy document was officially launched today by the Ministry of Communication and Aviation at the Heritage Park Hotel in Honiara.

In his keynote address, Minister Hon. Fredrick Kologeto highlighted the growing security risks linked to the increasing reliance on information technology, urging Solomon Islanders to be vigilant about cyber threats and informed on how to mitigate them.

“The national cyber security policy’s vision is to create a safe, secure and robust cyber security environment in Solomon Islands,” the Minister said.

Hon. Kologeto outlined that the new policy is crafted to address the nation’s cybersecurity needs while aligning with international standards. Its vision is to ensure a secure and resilient cyberspace for the country. The policy is guided by four key principles and built around six interrelated objectives, requiring collaborative effort for thorough implementation.

“These objectives require participation in implementing the order to comprehensively and thoroughly implement the expectation of the policy,” he said.

The Minister said that the policy launch, considered a milestone achievement for the Government for National Unity and Transformation’s (GNUT’s) 100 Days Policy, followed extensive consultations and was attended by stakeholders from the aviation industry, diplomats, and other dignitaries.
