The 2nd Annual Congress of the Institute of Solomon Islands Accountants (ISIA) was held at the Heritage Park Hotel in Honiara, attracting accounting professionals, policymakers, and industry leaders.

The two-day event, which runs from August 21–22, 2025, is held under the powerful theme: “Shaping the Solomon Islands Financial and Economic Future: Relevance of the Accounting Profession.”

In his keynote address at the opening ceremony, Minister of Finance and Treasury, Hon. Harry Kuma, stressed the need for collaboration and innovation to drive sustainable development.

“The theme calls for a fundamental shift in our economic paradigm,” he said. “It underscores the need for government to work closely with all stakeholders to boost productivity, strengthen service delivery, and build resilience for long-term prosperity.”

ISIA President, Johnson Lobo, called for collective action and urged participants to embrace change.

“This congress is a platform of hope — for our members and for the nation,” Mr. Lobo said. “It’s a chance to understand the rapid economic and social changes facing our communities and to become more effective advocates for a better future.”

The congress features a dynamic mix of keynote speeches, panel discussions, and breakout sessions covering emerging trends, professional development, and sustainability strategies.

Meanwhile, this year’s event is the launch of the inaugural ISIA Accounting Awards, which will honor excellence and innovation in the profession. The awards will be presented at a gala dinner on Friday, August 22, with the Development Bank of Solomon Islands (DBSI) as the official sponsor.
