SOLOMON Airlines extended a surprise special invitation to mark World Kindness Day on 13th November and hosted 16 students from Kukum South Seas Evangelical Church Kindergarten for a memorable experience at Henderson Airport.

The children were invited to see Solomon Airlines’ De Havilland Dash 8-100 aircraft up close with the national carrier’s flight crew also in attendance to chat with the children about the aircraft and working for the airline.

Solomon Airlines heard that, among the children, several aspired to work for the national carrier one day or to become engineers, so the airline also took them to their hangar to see the airline’s engineers in action and meet members of the Engineering team.

The children, aged from 4 to 5 then had the opportunity to meet Solomon Airlines pilots Captain Linda Tito Owen and Captain Jonathan Yaxely, and go inside and sit onboard the Dash 8 aircraft for an in-depth pre-flight briefing while the flight crew started the engines.  They were then given the surprise of an on-ground 15-minute ride around the tarmac.

World Kindness Day is a global day that promotes the importance of being kind to each other, to yourself, and the world.

The purpose of this day celebrated on November 13 annually is to help everyone understand that compassion for others binds us all together and inspires kindness.

“In the spirit of the day, we were delighted to welcome the students and create a fun and inspirational event for them, viewing one of our domestic aircraft, meeting some of our team, and showing what an aircraft can do, “ said Colin Sigimanu, Commercial Manager, Solomon Airlines.
