A total of six candidates will run for the vacant West Guadalcanal Constituency Parliamentary seat.

The Solomon Islands Electoral Office confirmed this after conducting the Ballot Paper draw to determine candidates’ positions on the Ballot Papers.

Of the six candidates, four are contesting as independent candidates whilst two will be running as members of the Solomon Islands Peoples First Party (PFP) and the Ownership Unity Responsibility (OUR) Party. Only one female candidate will contest the upcoming WGC by-elections.

The six candidates include; Titus Sura (Independent), Pascal Kimavora Belamatanga (Independent), Philip Junior Manakako (PFP), Donisiano Keli (Independent), Mary Daniella Zae Garu (Independent) and Anthony Kamutulaka Veke (OUR Pary).

Returning Officer for West Guadalcanal Constituency, Mr Willie Kokopu confirmed that a total of 20 polling stations within Savulei, Tangarare and Wanderer Bay wards will be used during the coming by-elections.

Mr. Kokopu revealed, “Following the completion of assessments on all previous polling stations, we have now finalized the 20 to be used with only one change made. The only change made is that the Hauvale 2 polling station is now renamed to Kusumba – where it is exactly located”.

These are the confirmed Polling Stations for the West Guadalcanal Constituency By-Elections.
