ALICK Pinihi, an independent candidate running for the Central Makira Constituency parliamentary seat in the upcoming 2024 joint election, is calling for a shift in focus to prioritize national needs over personal and political agendas.

Pinihi says that too often politicians are more concerned with their own interests than addressing the pressing issues facing the country.

In a recent interview with Sunday Islands, Pinihi outlined his plans to tackle key issues such as healthcare, education, and the economy. He emphasized the importance of putting the needs of the Solomon Islands people first and working towards the rightful solutions to create real change.

“We need to come together as a nation and address the challenges that are facing us head-on,” Pinihi said. “It’s time to put aside our differences and work towards a brighter future for all Solomon Islanders.”

With the election quickly approaching, Pinihi’s message of unity and prioritizing national needs is resonating with voters across the country. As he continues to campaign, he is hopeful that his message will inspire others to join him in working towards a better, more unified Solomon Islands.

He emphasized the crucial need to transcend self-serving agendas that impede the nation’s advancement.

“We need to prioritize what our country needs to move forward rather than individual pockets or political interests to maintain power in the parliament,” stressed Pinihi, underscoring the imperative of collective progress.

Reflecting on his personal journey, Pinihi offered his experience from years working in his community, mainly in Central Makira. He emphasized the importance of making investments in economic empowerment and education at the local level, highlighting the critical role that infrastructure development and small businesses play in promoting economic growth.

Inspired by the prosperous development models seen in South Korea, Japan, and Singapore, Pinihi promoted village empowerment and supported their entrepreneurial activities. In order to support the movement of goods and services across provinces and the country as a whole, he emphasized the critical need for improved infrastructure, including roads and maritime transportation.

“Enough of being held captive in our own land,” Pinihi noted, emphasizing the need for governmental prioritization of citizen welfare and support for economic advancement.

Pinihi urged the young people in his constituency to support his progressive vision as he prepared for his campaign leading up to Election Day. Acknowledging the significance of youth participation in decision-making processes, he affirmed his dedication to ensuring their voices are heard in shaping the future of their community.

Pinihi’s passionate support of national advancement and unity strikes a chord as the Solomon Islands gets ready for a critical election period. This is because many of the country’s residents are keen to see their country succeed on both a national and international level of economic development.
