FIELDERS Industry Company has donated three cartons of medical drugs for Taheramo clinic on Ulawa Island in Makira Ulawa province.

Receiving the medicines today (Saturday) at the clinic, the Nurse In charge of Taheramo clinic Mrs. Angela Alahanimae said that she is very grateful for such a gift to her clinic especially at this time where her clinic is facing medicine shortage.

“I am very happy to see this medicines here before me today. These medicines here will really help us a lot at this point of time where we are facing medicine shortage here at Taheramo clinic,” Mrs. Alahanimae said.

“It is indeed a blessing for our people to have receive this gift from the Fielders Company who shows this good deed not only for the people in this clinic’s catchment area but Ulawa as whole because not only Taheramo clinic is running out of medical drugs but the other three clinics on Ulawa is also facing the same situation and for sure people in other places will also benefit from this assistance from Fielders Industry Company,” she added.

Mrs. Alahanimae said that the medical drugs donated by the Fielders Industry Company will really reduce the stress the nurses there are currently experiencing due to the shortage of Medicines at her clinic.

She further added that they will be rationing the medicines received and will issue medicines only to those who are really sick.

Handing over the medicines to the Taheramo clinic Staffs and Clinic committee on behalf of the Fielders Industry Company, Catholic Priest, Fr. John Tahieu said that the General Manager of the Fielders Industry has stated that he is very happy indeed to assist the people of Ulawa Island by helping them through purchasing of medical drugs for the Taheramo clinic.

“The General Manager, Mr. Reuben told me to pass his message to the clinic committee and Nurses at Taheramo saying that on behalf of the Fielders Industry Company, he is very grateful to assist Taheramo clinic with these medical drugs to help the people of Ulawa”, he said.

“He said that even though this gift to the people of Ulawa is too small but he is very happy to help and he said that he hopes nurses will make sure that people are treated with the medicines he bought which is here before us today,” Fr. Tahieu said.

Fr. John said that all this came about after the Fielders Industry General Manager saw an article on media about Taheramo clinic facing shortage of medical drugs and that’s when the Fielders General Manager contacted him telling him that he wanted to help the people of Ulawa Island by assisting Taheramo clinic with medical drugs to address the shortage of medicines.

The handing over ceremony was witnessed today by the Taheramo clinic Nurses, clinic Committee, stakeholders and the people in the North Ulawa ward who were there at the clinic seeking medical assistance.
