Foubaba Community High School in West Kwaio, Malaita Province has marked a major milestone with the official handover of its new School Assembly Hall, delivered through the Australia–Solomon Islands Partnership and facilitated by the West Kwaio Constituency.
The ceremony on Monday, 31 August 2026 brought together community leaders, parents, church representatives, teachers, students and the wider Foubaba community, highlighting strong local ownership and collective pride in the new development.
Second Secretary of DFAT, Bridgette Cottrill, attended on behalf of the Australian Government and congratulated the community, emphasising that the project reflected the power of working together to strengthen education services. “We are together to build our school, Foubaba. Congratulations to everyone,” she said.
The new Assembly Hall will serve as a central space for school assemblies, learning activities, community gatherings and important events providing a safer, more functional environment for students and teachers.
School Principal Dudley Su’akeu expressed deep appreciation to the Australian Government, the Solomon Islands Government and the West Kwaio Constituency for enabling the project. He said the handover marked a significant achievement for the school and a long‑term investment in the wellbeing of students and the community.
The project is part of the ongoing Australia–Solomon Islands partnership supporting community development and improved education infrastructure across Malaita Province. For Foubaba Community High School, the completion of the Assembly Hall represents progress, unity and a stronger future for generations of learners.
