PAPUA New Guinea’s High Commissioner to Solomon Islands H.E Moses Kaul has paid rich tributes to founding leaders of Papua New Guinea on the occasion of the 47th Independence Day anniversary celebrations in Honiara on Saturday.
H.E Moses Kaul recalled their immense contributions towards guiding the nation since Papua New Guinea (PNG) gained its independence from Australia in 1975.
“I pay homage to the founding leaders for guiding PNG as a nation through challenges to realize the dream of a sovereign nation we proudly call PNG.

“The 47 years of nationhood signifies the resilience of our unity as one people and one nation against the backdrop of diverse cultural and language differences.
“PNG remains a strongly unified country blessed with an abundance of natural resources and unique in its sovereignty,” H.E Kaul said.
He mentioned that PNG emerges as a vibrant democracy that attests to the attributes of strong patriotism and unification in diversity.

“Forty-seven years on, PNG strives to take its place in the global arena despite confronting fundamental issues of globalization and development process.
“The people of PNG declared themselves as one people with a common identity and shall remain as stronger as ever. As they celebrate this milestone of independence, they stand side by side and hand in hand in the land of a thousand tribes.

“This 47 years of independence is a period of transition into maturity and to determine her destiny. In three years, we will celebrate the Silver Jubilee as a nation so the people of PNG are visionary and stay the course to advance in history,” Papua New Guinea’s High Commissioner to the Solomon Islands said.
