THE release of the 2022 Solomon Islands Senior Secondary School Students Placement Results for years 10 (form 4), 12 (form 6) and 13 (form 7) have been further delayed for at least two weeks.
This was according to the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development (MEHRD) Dr. Franco Rodie when confirming that this was after some staff of MEHRD responsible for National Examinations tested positive for COVID-19.
“The release of the 2022 Solomon Islands Senior Secondary School Students Placement Results have been delayed for at least two weeks (from this week) as staff of the MEHRD responsible for National Examinations are serving their self-isolation or quarantine period of 10 to 14 days.
“Few of them have tested positive or exposed to persons who had tested positive for covid-19,” PS Rodie confirmed to Sunday Isles.
According to the MEHRD schedule, the results were supposed to be released this week – week beginning 7 February.
Dr. Rodie said the Ministry of Education regrets the delay that has hindered the quick release of the senior secondary student’s placement results.
“As soon as the staff have recovered and get back to work, the final selection process will be conducted and the results will be released thereafter,” PS Rodie assured.
It is understood that Schools throughout the country will not start potentially for a month or more because of the COVID-19 community transmission in the country.
Dr Rodie in a recent talk back show said schools will begin classes once the MEHRD are advised by health authorities that it is safe to go back to school before they begin classes for 2022.
He said because of that students will remain at their homes and they will start the learning continuity programme.
The programme comprises of lessons for ECE, primary, and secondary schools and will be broadcast on SIBC.
Dr Roddie confirms that the programme will start in early February.
