MV Taimareho 1 second trip since the COVID Outbreak in the country has been successful.

The ship arrived in West Are’ are on Thursday, March 10 after leaving Honiara on Wednesday, March 9.

The vessel made its first cargo voyage to all ports in West Are’ are with much-needed goods on 28 February following the outbreak of covid-19.

According to an officer on-board, those that travel on the ship have followed covid-19 measures and regulations.

“Everyone has to go through the measures, this is the new normal. Boarding the ship, we have to swab, wear a face mask, apply social distancing, and other measures,” said the officer.

The March 9 cargo run begins from all main ports of call in West are ‘are and returned to Afio port in small Malaita and returned the same route to Honiara.

Sunday Isles understand that much of the load was shipped on 28 Feb, occupying the vessel a week for backloading supplies at respective ports.

It is also understood that the MP for West Are’are Constituency has donated around 1000 20kg Rice to the rural constituents.
