THE Premier of Guadalcanal Province, Hon. Francis Sade has called the NAYA Company Ltd 50¢ deal unethical and stated that he canceled it last year, this was according to a joint interview with a Solomon Star’s reporter, last Thursday.

Speaking during the interview, he said that the whole deal was orchestrated by none other but the former Chief Education Officer (CEO), Mr. Gladall Sesehala to deceive him for his (CEO’s) own gain.

He asserted that although he did sign the deal, he later cancelled it.

Premier Sade also clarified that there were two MOUs. The first was for the printing and supplying of books with GPG logos, provincial anthems, and Guadalcanal names, and the second is for 50¢ commission for each book sales.

“What I am implicated in was for the 50¢ commission, that’s the one that I signed and canceled.

“Therefore, I have never received any money from NAYA, since we made the arrangements because I’ve cancelled the deal on 3rd July 2020 after the MOU was signed on June 24th.

“I want to make it clear that I personally cancelled the deal last year” he confirmed.

He also said that if anyone is interested, he or she can request NAYA Company Limited to provide details on whether he benefits from the deal or not.

“Yes, it was a grave mistake, but I did what was right and ethical thing by personally cancelling it” he explained.

Premier Sade furthered that the CEO might think the the reason for his suspension is due to the cancellation. However, the Premier stated that his suspension is due to other reasons that only the CEO himself knows.

“The CEO knows very well why he is being suspended. However, he’s using the NAYA deal as a smokescreen to conceal the real reason for his suspension” Premier Sade says.

Hon. Premier Sade reiterated that the issue is insignificant and says he has a province to take care of.

“The whole issue is insignificant, I will not waste my time to dwell on it. I have a province with more than 150,000 people to serve and protect.

“The Executive Government is doing its best to address and implement some of the long-standing issues of Guadalcanal. We have more work to do for our people.

“Therefore, such petty issue is the least of my priority” he said.
