THE Prime Minister, on behalf of the government and people of Solomon Islands, has conveyed a condolence message to his Papua New Guinea counterpart, James Marape, on the loss of the PNG deputy Prime Minister, late Honorable Sam Basil.

In a formal letter of condolence to Honorable Marape, Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare stated that Sam Basil will be remembered for his service and contribution to his electorate, and the people and government of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea.

PM Sogavare further stated that Melanesia has lost one of its sons “…but his legacy to his people and country will live on”.

“The thoughts and prayers of the Government and people of Solomon Islands are with the Government and people of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea and especially with the immediate and extended family of the late Hon Basil at this difficult time”, PM Sogavare stated.

Late Sam Basil was the incumbent MP for Wau- Bulolo electorate until his untimely and shocking passing this week.
