During the meeting, the President warmly welcomed Prime Minister Wale and acknowledged the deep historical ties between Fiji and Solomon Islands.

His Excellency highlighted the long-standing relationship between the two nations, rooted in early migration, the exchange of people and enduring cultural connections.

“The Pacific is a family,” the peesident said, noting that these shared bonds continue to shape cooperation today.

He expressed his best wishes to Prime Minister Wale in his leadership and commended the strong voice and contributions of Pacific descendants across the region.

His Excellency also acknowledged the important roles played by leaders and officials in strengthening these connections.

In response, Prime Minister Wale expressed his sincere appreciation for the warm welcome and the respect accorded to him, particularly through the traditional ceremony hosted in his honour.

The Prime Minister acknowledged Fiji’s significant role in the Pacific region and reflected on the deep historical relationship between the two countries, dating back to the colonial era.

He said many Solomon Islanders have been educated in Fiji, further strengthening the close ties between the two nations.

Prime Minister Wale reaffirmed the value Solomon Islands places on its relationship with Fiji, stating that Fiji has consistently stood alongside Solomon Islands over the years.

“We deeply value this relationship and the spirit of partnership that defines it,” Prime Minister Wale said.

He further emphasized the importance of embracing and strengthening Pacific unity, adding that there is a need to rediscover and uphold the Pacific way within a modern context.
