A total of Thirty-Eight (38) Papua New Guinean Police Force Contingents plus other passengers left Honiara for Port Moresby onboard Air New Guinea Chartered Flight on Friday, March 4.
Speaking on behalf of the PNG Contingents, Commander PEROU N DRANOU said, “We can only say thank you to the Solomon Islands Government for the good trust in us.
“Operations in such deployment to help RSIPF during the past three months civil unrest is not an easy task,” said Commander Perou.
He said, “This is another country, from day one, despite the negativity and social media challenges that we faced, all the success, the good image is from the good work that you did.
“My PNG Contingents, you have done well so far, I am impressed.
“I must applaud the Solomon Islands Government, for the high praise and recognition given with the ‘Solomon Islands Medal’ presented to us by the Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau,” Commander Perou said.
He added that he extended the same commendations and acknowledgement to the RSIPF Commissioner Mangau and the Solomon Islands International Assistance force team for all the cooperation and partnership during the past weeks and months.
Commander Perou further thanked the PNG-SI community, the PNG High Commission in Honiara, Ms Diana Tasion and family, Ms Stephanie Ting, Mr Dennis Yehulamo, Ms Hane Tam, and all other PNG Nationals.
“We couldn’t have achieved this high praise as we witnessed from the Police Commissioner and the SI government if it wasn’t for your enthused support towards us.
“You added success to our operation deployment here.
“The most important part is, we want to say thank you to everyone.”
Papua New Guinea High Commissioner to Solomon Islands His Excellency Moses Kaul by the same token, shared similar sentiments to the PNG Contingents at the farewell party Wednesday last week.
“I thanked all esteem PNG Contingents with your commander Perou that have come and contributed in restoring law and order and discontinue the violence and criminal activities – putting back to normalcy, our small brother country, Solomon Islands.
“Your response to step in on SI Government’s call has shown the spirit of our Melanesian brotherhood as family.
“In the context of you executing the course of your mission here, you have strong resilience and power on your duty.
“You have fulfilled your duty, you have accomplished your missioned, you have raised our flag high and I’m proud of that.”
Jorddy Tununto PNG SI Association representative shared the same thoughts stating,” Our sincere appreciation to our PNG Security contingents for hearing and responding to the call of Solomon Islands Government to come and help us.
“You have done a great job, and make us proud, we wish you all the best as you return home to PNG.
Equally, the Solomon Islands Police Commissioner Mr Mostyn Mangau has also thanked the PNG Contingents for their coordinated support extracted with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF).
