PNG/Solomon Islands Community to celebrate 47th Independence Anniversary tomorrow.

TODAY is Papua New Guinea (PNG)’s 47th Independence Anniversary and the PNG/Solomon Islands Community in Honiara will be celebrating it on Saturday Tomorrow at the SMI compound, Town Ground.

The official program starts from 12 pm to 5 pm on Saturday 17 September 2022, however, there will also be sports/kids games starting from 8:00 am – 12 pm at the SMI compound, Town Ground in Honiara.

According to Papua New Guinea/Solomon Islands Association’s organizing committee, the PNG/Solomon Islands Community and guests are asked to join the 47th PNG Independence Celebrations tomorrow.

“PNG wantoks are asked to bring a small tray of food to share or BBQ on this special occasion or otherwise for more information, call the organizing committee on 7922458 or 7922995.”

Sunday Isles understands that there will be speeches and flag rising, followed by cultural entertainment in the afternoon.

This is a most anticipated day on the Papua New Guinean calendar, they turned four decades old in 2015 and are now 47 years old this year, 2022. Papua New Guinea became an Independent State from Australia, on 16 September 1975.
