THE Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) has detected several COVID-19 positive test results from recent international arrivals. The public has therefore been asked to reinforce and uphold COVID-19 safe measures.

These include:

Wearing face masks in public spaces and on public transportation at all times if possible,

Frequent hand washing with soap or hand sanitizer at all times,

Coughing into bent elbow or tissue and dispose of it properly at all times,

Implement social distancing of at least a meter
Avoid large gatherings as much as possible
Get fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Those who are not yet vaccinated are encouraged to get vaccinated at their nearest health clinic and those who are due should get a booster.

Any person with a flu-like illness can get tested at the nearest health clinic. If tested positive please home isolate for at least 7 days before coming out of home isolation.

During home isolation, avoid close contact with any person in your household, and as much as possible, keep all eating and drinking utensils, and clothing separate from the rest of the household.

Should you experience worsening symptoms, such as coughing, breathing difficulties, flu, etc. please go to your nearest health clinic immediately for medical treatment as we now have medical drugs available to treat COVID-19 patients.

For our communities bordering other countries, please reinforce and uphold COVID-19 safe measures, as increased border crossings can potentially spark reinfection of COVID-19, or bring new variants into our communities and spark a third wave of COVID-19 infection.

While the COVID-19 situation has greatly improved, the threat is not yet over. The Ministry of Health is mandated to take care of public health and part of this is providing timely information to the public to take necessary measures to preserve their health, hence this call for the reinforcement of COVID-19 safe measures.
