The event was attended by hundreds of Renbel community members residing in Honiara, all eager to embrace the opportunities presented by this collaboration.

“That is the very reason why this program is signed this evening that is very important. I want all of us to realize that this opportunity is a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We have to take this opportunity significantly.

“The success of this program is not up to me, it’s not up to our constituency offices but it’s up to each individual. So please I am appealing to you to make full use of this opportunity to go to Canada and make a life for ourselves,” he added.

Chairman Dwivedi also highlighted the historical importance of the agreement, stressing that it would provide a “global passport to the workforce.”

“My vision and commitment to you tonight is that I’m going to help you and your constituency and you people to be part of this celebration and to be part of the movement, to be part of the employment sector, to be part of education and training,” the CITREC Chairman said.

He further spoke on the need for the Solomon Islands to move towards self-sustainability rather than relying solely on aid.
