SOLOMON Islands Party for Rural Advancement (SIPRA) President Gordon Darcy Lilo captivated the Youth Hub Multi-Purpose Hall with his rhetoric.

Addressing the crowd during the launch of SIPRA last Wednesday, February 21, 2024, Mr. Lilo declared that the upcoming 2024 joint elections was not just an event but an opportunity for the people of the Solomon Islands to rise up and reclaim their country.

“2024 joint elections are an opportunity for the people of the Solomon Islands to “rise up and regain our country.”

“The past decade had been a journey of lessons, teaching them about the kind of government and leadership they needed—one that prioritized national interests and responded directly to the needs of the people.

“With unwavering determination, together, we would rise up and reclaim their country, forging a path towards prosperity and fulfillment for generations to come,” Mr. Lilo outlined SIPRA’s vision for the country.

He emphasized the urgent need to change the government under SIPRA’s leadership to strengthen national security, recognize the importance of government executives and public services, and expand the economy by boosting local and rural productivity.

“Accessibility to essential services for all citizens was a priority, ensuring that no one was left behind.

“2024 Election as opportunity to change government with SIPRA leadership, to strengthen national security, to recognize government executive and public services, to expand the economy base with local and rural productivities, and to adjust service-providing to be more accessible for our people.”

“The core beliefs and purpose of SIPRA were deeply rooted in the national call to advance nation-building.

“Christian beliefs and spiritual principles formed the foundation of communal relations, while governance principles focused on democracy, human rights, freedom, and inclusivity.

“Economic development, centered on sustainable productivity and diversification, was key to SIPRA’s agenda. Human capital development and social services were deemed inherent rights essential for securing unity, security, peace, and harmony in the country,” Mr. Lilo highlighted the pillars of governance, emphasizing the significance of indigenous traditional cultures, rural communities, and island groupings.

Mr. Lilo’s passionate speech evoked a sense of unity and optimism in the Hall.
