The Tourism Division in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, conducted the second tourism COVID-19 Extra Care training today.
The two days training at the Honiara Hotel targets the Honiara Hotel frontline workers to be informed about the COVID-19 sickness and be safe while performing their duties.
In his opening remarks this morning, the Director of the Division of Tourism conveyed his appreciation on behalf of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to the owners of the Honiara Hotel, Sir Thomas Chan and his wife Diana Yates for the invitation to the training team to organize the two days COVID-19 Extra care training.
“They have seen the importance of this kind of training and coordinated with us, to ensure you, as their workers are safe from this pandemic. And you can able to handle this sickness,” said Sivoro.
He highlighted that more 100 hotel workers have attended the first similar training.
Meanwhile, Tourism COVID-19 Extra Care consultant, Savita Nandan Makabo also emphasis that the training will not only help you at work, rather, “it will help you and your families to remain safe from the disease. “
She said that the current situation of our neighboring countries should signal to the participants to be serious about how they care about their families and communities.
“Now the Solomon Islands regains the COVID-19 free status. But that does not mean we should relax our collective effort to keep our communities safe,” added Savita.
According to Rolly Viga, one of the trainers from the National Public Health Emergency and Surveillance Unit, Ministry of Health and Medical Services, infection control is a collective responsibility to make our communities safe.
The training will continue tomorrow for the second group of the Honiara Hotel front line workers.
