THE Solomon Islands National University (SINU) hosted its 2024 graduation ceremony today at Maranatha Hall, Burns Creek. Around 1,000 students from various faculties proudly received their degrees, diplomas, and certificates in the presence of family and guests.
This year’s ceremony marked a historic milestone as SINU awarded its first-ever Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in environmental science to Dr. Mary Tahu Paia, symbolising a new chapter for the university.
Under the theme “Creating your future is our commitment,” His Excellency Sir David Tiva Kapu, Governor General of Solomon Islands, delivered the keynote address. He emphasised the significance of the theme, stating, “Your future is no longer a dream but a reality that begins today with the knowledge, skills, and values acquired at SINU. These are the tools with which you will build not only your future but the future of our nation.”
The Governor General congratulated the graduates, commending their hard work and urging them to embrace the responsibility of shaping the future.
This 11th annual graduation ceremony represents a significant achievement for SINU and its graduates.
