Two staff members from the National Parliament of the Solomon Islands have represented the country at the 2025 Parliamentary Professional Services Network (PPSN) Conference, held from 23–25 July in Perth, Western Australia.
Under the theme “Your Career, Your Move – Building Capability for Better Parliaments,” the conference brought together parliamentary professionals from across Australia and the Pacific for three days of professional development, collaboration, and shared learning.
Mr. Jason Rimamata and Ms. Angelina Nunumae participated in a series of expert-led workshops and interactive sessions focused on strengthening parliamentary institutions and enhancing staff capabilities.

Key highlights from the conference included:
- Leadership and Career Development: Sessions focused on building individual and institutional capability through leadership training and strategic career planning.
- Regional Collaboration: Delegates established and strengthened professional networks to promote ongoing knowledge sharing across jurisdictions.
- Governance and Ethics: Presentations explored ethical leadership, inclusion, and staff wellbeing as critical components of effective governance.
- Cross-Country Learning: Case studies showcased successful practices in other parliaments that could be adapted to local Solomon Islands contexts.
Organizers highlighted the importance of equipping parliamentary staff with tools and knowledge to better serve their institutions and communities.

The participation of Solomon Islands delegates reflects Parliament’s ongoing commitment to capacity building and to contributing to more effective parliamentary systems across the Pacific.
The PPSN Conference is widely seen as a platform that empowers behind-the-scenes professionals who play a crucial role in strengthening democracy and governance in the region.
