The Spirit of Singing, a music, faith, and culture initiative, is gaining momentum in Honiara, led by local solicitor and worship minister Camilla Anibirisi Batalibasi.
The program, recently launched, offers children aged 6 to 12 a unique eight-week journey into worship and identity through original songs, Scripture, and creative storytelling.
“The Spirit of Singing was created because I believe every child carries a sound that reflects Heaven and heritage,” Batalibasi told SUNDAY ISLES. “This isn’t just a music class — it’s a journey of restoration.”
With more than 15 years of experience in worship ministry and a legal background focused on community empowerment, Batalibasi brings both passion and purpose to this pilot program.

“I was taught to sing not through formal lessons, but by example — listening to my late father, Dr. Sukuna Batalibasi,” she shared. “From hymns to gospel harmonies, his joy built what I now call the ‘spirit of singing.’”
The program includes:
- 5 original songs
- Weekly themes inspired by the House of David
- Creative home-based activities
- Parent and facilitator support
- A final performance week
- Certificate of completion
The full package costs $1,000 SBD per child, and registration is now open until Sunday, 24 August 2025.
“No musical training is needed — just a willing heart and a home ready to echo Heaven,” Batalibasi said. “This is more than a curriculum. It’s a seed of legacy — a bridge between generations.”
She stressed that parents will play a key role throughout the program, supported by facilitators to guide their children in worship at home.
“Over eight weeks, your family will journey through Scripture, ancestral rhythms, and five original songs — all designed to awaken your child’s voice as a sacred instrument of worship, identity, and joy.”
The first season of The Spirit of Singing is set to begin soon after registration closes. Batalibasi says she is excited to meet the children and families who will join the program.
