THE Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) is urging young girls to notify their family members before going out.

RSIPF made this appeal after a young girl lied to her family that some unknown people kidnapped her between Kobito and Kwaio valley before the weekend.

The family of the young girl was so frustrated that they go to the police station and seek assistance to locate the girl.

RSIPF Commissioner Mangau said it was alleged that the young girl was actually spending time drinking beer with friends.

Commissioner Mangau said the young girl has been arrested and dealt with.

She was charged for spreading false rumours in relation to rumours of attempt abduction reports in Honiara. She will appear at Honiara Central Magistrates’ Court on a later date.

Commissioner Mangau discouraged young girls who have this attitude of lying about their whereabouts.

“Lying not only cause fear and panic to family members but also fair among members of the public who are afraid of rumours of attempt abduction and kidnapping reports circulating on social media,” Commissioner Mangau said.

He said police do not tolerate people who lied and caused panic to the public, adding those who practice such attitude will be dealt with and brought to the courts to face justice.
