FORMER Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) for Katario Ward 13 at Northeast Choiseul Province, Ronald Zakele has retained his government seat after going through election polls on December 14.
Out of seven (7) contesting candidates, Hon Zakele won with 194 votes in his favour, out of a total of 807 votes.
On thanking voters for their continuous support, Mr Zakele assure his people that ongoing developments, plans and visions of his previous provincial government term between 2019 and 2022 will continue for the goodness of their society.
“I want to remind the people of Katario that some of our developments from the past provincial term are still along the pipeline, and now coming into power again we will see to completing our Ward projects,” said Zakele.
“The last term’s period was shorter [just for around two years due to hiccups] on which we hope to continue more on a longer period for this term completing four years. This is so my people can further enjoy what we call ‘development’. We will be furthering our developments in agriculture, sports, youth, women, tourism and many other areas of positive development which will include working together with Church elders, leaders and Chiefs of communities.”
According to the MPA for Katario Ward, despite highlighting developments, securing and settling lands first for them to be established is one great challenge being one of his top priorities.
“There will be no development if such is not addressed first, as this is so that the people of Katario will also have a good clear peace of mind towards development for the Ward,” said Zakele.
“After consultations with Chiefs and leaders of communities then developments can take place. Developments towards the Papaza TVET [Technical Vocational Education and Training] centre, Koloe market house, water supply and sanitation and the Susuka footbridge are all ongoing developments. This is my vision and program for the people of Katario for this term, leading my team and people as a peace builder as well.
“With the help of small assistances, I look forward to the coming New Year to tour all villages in Katario Ward.”
Apart from Christmas greetings to his people, for extra knowledge, Mr Zakele reminds them with three sayings and they are: “Do not forget the people who have helped you in difficult times, do not forget the people who left you during difficult times and do not forget people who put you in difficult times”.
