Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele MP has paid tribute to the Western Provincial Government and people, recognising the Province’s enduring role as one of the economic engines of the Solomon Islands.
Celebrating the Western Province’s 42nd Second Appointed in Seghe Monday, Prime Minister Manele praised the province for its steadfast contributions to national development through its thriving forestry,fisheries, and tourism sectors- industries that continue to create jobs, stimulate local economies, and elevate the nation’s growth prospects.
“Western Province has long stood as a pillar of strength in our national economy. Your forests, your rich fisheries, your pristine tourism attractions—these are not just provincial assets; they are national treasures that support livelihoods across our islands.”

The Prime Minister noted that Western Province’s strong economic performance has also made it a magnet for citizens from all corners of the Solomon Islands, creating a diverse and dynamic population that reflects unity in diversity.
“Many of our people from other provinces have chosen to build their homes and raise their families here. This province has become a place of opportunity, resilience, and shared prosperity.”
Prime Minister Manele also extended heartfelt appreciation to the people, leaders, and business communities of Munda and Noro for their exceptional hosting of the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Retreat this year, an event that brought international attention to the province.

“The way Western Province welcomed the Pacific region’s leaders was nothing short of remarkable. It was a proud moment, not just for this province, but for our entire nation. You showcased the very best of Solomon Islands hospitality, professionalism, and unity.” The Prime Minister reiterated Western Province’s central role in shaping the national future and called for continued partnership in driving inclusive, sustainable development.
