THE ROYAL Solomon Islands Police Force is presently monitoring the situation leading up to the motion of no confidence against the Malaita provincial premier, Hon. Daniel Suidani.

Assistance Police Commissioner, Patricia Leta of the Crime intelligence of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) made the assurance during the police weekly media conference in Honiara yesterday.

“The RSIPF is currently monitoring the event leading up to the ’motion of no confidence’ against Malaita province premier, Daniel Suidani,’’ she said.

Acting Commissioner Patricia Leta said that Police will not take a side in any political matters as their main focus is to ensure the motion runs peacefully.

Isles media understands that the motion against Malaita province Hon. Daniel Suidani will be moved on Wednesday 27 next week in Auki.

Speaking during the 34th police media conference at the Rove Police Headquarters yesterday, acting commissioner Leta called on the Malaita people to allow the process to take its course.

“This is a critical time and to the people of Malaita province, please allow the political process to take its course during this motion,” pledge Mrs. Leta.

She told local journalists that the Police would not accept any unlawful activity before, during, and after the motion of confidence process.

“Let the Provincial government proceed with the motion and the public should not involve in any criminal activities that will bring regrettable situations later.

“I want to call on church leaders and the good people around the country to pray for a peaceful moving of the motion which will take place on 27 of October 2021,’’appealed the acting commissioner.

On the deployment of the RSIPF officer from Honiara to Auki, Patricia Leta was reluctant to provide information on the plans updates.

However, she said that the Royal Solomon police will make sure and ensure that the event is peacefully conducted.
