AREATAKIKI Seventh Day Adventist Primary School in Central Guadalcanal celebrated the official opening of a new two-story classroom building on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone in the school’s development.

This new classroom facility is expected to benefit students at Areatakiki Seventh Day Adventist Primary School by providing a more conducive environment for learning and personal growth. It stands as a symbol of continued cooperation between the Solomon Islands and Japan, helping to pave the way for a brighter future for the children of Guadalcanal.

The project, funded by the Japanese government under the Japan Grassroots and Human Security Program, aims to improve educational facilities and provide a better learning environment for future generations.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by His Excellency Yoshiaki Miwa, the Japanese Ambassador to the Solomon Islands, who expressed his delight in witnessing the completion of the classroom building.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Miwa said: “On behalf of the government and people of Japan, I am truly delighted to witness the official opening of this important educational facility. This project, signed on January 18, 2024, between the Embassy of Japan and Areatakiki Seventh Day Adventist Primary School, was initiated to enhance the learning environment for students today and for future generations.”

Ambassador Miwa highlighted the significance of the project, noting its role in providing sustainable educational infrastructure.

The new building is part of Japan’s ongoing support for the Solomon Islands under the Grassroots Assistance Program, which focuses on strengthening the country’s educational sector. Ambassador Miwa concluded by reaffirming Japan’s commitment to the Solomon Islands, expressing his delight in the long-standing partnership between the two nations in the field of education.
