THE Premier of Guadalcanal Province, Hon. Francis Sade has made a strong appeal to any Guadalcanal person who continues to claim ownership of the ongoing forfeiting of Levers Solomon Limited (LSL) Land to refrain from any unlawful land businesses.

“I appeal to my good people in these areas to refrain from engaging in any unlawful land businesses and respect the legal process” Premier Sade states.

His appeal is to support the Commissioner of Lands’ (COL) public notice issued in both Solomon Star and Island Sun newspapers on Thursday (19th) last week stating the commencement of the forfeiting processes in the following particular areas; Lungga, Henderson, Bloody Ridge, Alligator Creek, and Tenaru areas.

The COL’s public notice states “that unless and until the legal action is completed, applications for LSL land cannot be accepted, considered or approved.

“Likewise, consents for transfer of LSL FTEs’ will not be granted. There has not been, and there will not be, any decision to transfer any LSL land to anyone.

“While the matter is before the courts, nobody has any authority to claim ownership of this land apart from the Commissioner of Lands as the owner of the Perpetual Estates, and LSL as the owner of the Fixed Term Estates”.

Premier Sade says “Anyone who reads the COL’s public notice will clearly understand its core objective, i.e. there will not be any land transaction until and unless this issue is being settled in court. As the COL states, he still owns the Perpetual Estate.”

The Honorable Premier also warns any desperate land buyers to be careful with anyone who claims to own these areas.

“This public notice is not only for those who claim they own these areas, but also for any desperate land buyers as well. Meaning, if you’re one of those desperate land buyers, you should seriously consider COL’s public notice and must seek the advice from the MLHS and GP Lands Division before you engage in any pretense land activity where you will regret later” Premier Sade explains.

Since taking office in 2019, the Sade Government for Inclusive Change and Sustainable Development (GICSD), has made the LSL Land matter as one of its top priorities.

Thus, it has been working closely with the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Survey (MLHS), to address these long standing issues through the relevant legal processes.

Premier Sade also alludes that many of the desired changes for Guadalcanal Province won’t happen overnight, unless the people of Guadalcanal, especially those who claimed to own these areas, respect the rightful authorities and the legal processes.

In sum, Honorable Premier Francis Sade states that his Executive Government will continue to work with the relevant government ministries and houses of chiefs to continue addressing these land issues.
