The Solomon Islands Ministry of Finance and Treasury (MOFT) celebrated a major step forward in its journey toward stronger public financial management and digital transformation, launching two strategic documents and receiving a new vehicle to support ICT service delivery – all with the support of the Australian Government.
At a ceremony attended by Hon Trevor Manemahaga, Minister of Finance and Treasury and senior officials, MOFT officially launched the MOFT Corporate Plan 2025–2027 and the SIG ICT Services Digital – Data, People, Technology and Cyber Strategy 2026–2030.

“The Government of National Unity and Transformation is prioritising ‘transformation’ across Solomon Islands, and these documents provide the vision for a resilient, self-reliant future and will guide the Ministry’s work over the next several years,” Minister Mahaga said.
“They set out a clear direction for fiscal sustainability, inclusive growth, and digital innovation.”

Australia played a central role in supporting the documents’ development and has committed to being Solomon Islands’ lead partner in their implementation and building sovereign capability – ensuring the Ministry has the tools, talent, and systems it needs to lead its own development agenda.
“Australia is supporting the Solomon Islands Government in shaping and delivering these ambitious plans,” Australian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands, His Excellency, Rod Hilton said.
“We’re helping Solomon Islands’ to invest in the systems, infrastructure, and people that will drive long-term prosperity and digital resilience.”

Australia’s support is already translating into tangible outcomes that align with the Digital Strategy, including SBD5 million in hardware to equip the SIG disaster recovery site in Noro, due to launch in the coming months, and continued support for the Junior Professional Program, which brings skilled young professionals into the government ICT sector.
To further support MOFT’s ICT Services Division, Australia also handed over a new Toyota Hilux, which will help deliver timely and effective ICT services across government ministries.
The vehicle joins a growing fleet that enables the Division to respond quickly to technical needs and maintain critical infrastructure.
“These plans are roadmaps for action, and Australia has committed to being a part of turning them into reality,” High Commissioner Hilton said.
“Together, we’re laying the foundation for a more empowered, efficient, and digitally advanced Solomon Islands.”
