The Central Magistrates Court received a significant boost to its digital capabilities with the provision of new Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment from the Government of Australia.

Through the Australia Solomon Islands Partnership for Justice (ASIPJ), Australia delivered five new desktop computers to support the implementation and operation of the Justice Information Management System (JIMS). This system plays a vital role in strengthening case management and improving access to justice across the country.

ASIPJ works in close collaboration with agencies across the Solomon Islands law and justice sector, assisting the Solomon Islands Government in its efforts to promote national security, law and order. The new equipment will enhance the efficiency and reliability of judicial processes at the Central Magistrates Court, contributing to a more responsive and transparent justice system.

The Australian High Commissioner, His Excellency Rod Hilton said “Australia is pleased to support the Magistrates Court in its efforts to modernise and strengthen justice delivery”.

“The new ICT equipment will help streamline case management and ensure that justice is delivered more efficiently and fairly for all Solomon Islanders.”

Acting Chief Magistrate, Ricky Iomea welcomed the support, stating:
“The provision of these computers is a timely and valuable investment in our court operations. JIMS is a critical tool for managing cases, record keeping and improving service delivery. We thank the Government of Australia and ASIPJ for their continued support to the judiciary and the people of Solomon Islands.”
