THE Central Islands Provincial Police have again reaped success, with another major Ganga bust, as police continue its unrelenting drive to protect the provincial shores. The latest bust in the Toa village at Northeast Small-Ngella on Sunday.
More Marijuana trees and nurseries are uprooted at Ngella through previous days.
Both Belagha and Toa villages at Northeast Small-Ngella were raided with more than 30 Marijuana plants and nurseries as suspects are currently held at Tulaghi police cell.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) for Central Islands Province (CIP), Superintendent David Soakai advise communities in the province that the Marijuana plant is ‘illegal’ and everyone should be working closely with them to stop its activities.
“Our Royal Solomon Islands Police Force [RSIPF] investigation tour team on their way returning to Tulaghi mid last week stopped over at Belagha Village for a short visit. However, upon arrival an elder person approached our team and led them to a site where Marijuana plants were planted.
“The investigation team approached and uprooted two big plants and nurseries though the owner was not identified then during the operation,” said Soakai.
“And, just yesterday as it is an ongoing matter, 30 Marijuana plants were also uprooted at Toa Village as seven [7] suspects are in police cell.”
According to PPC Superintendent Soakai, the police have received information that more and more community members are planting marijuana as some use it for selling, smoking while others use it as ‘flower plant’.
“Police is warning our community that the plant is an ‘illegal plant’, and we ask everyone to work closely with the police to stop this drug usage in our society,” said Soakai.
