THE constructor of the Solomon Islands National University Dormitory Building Project, Jiangsu Provincial Construction Group Company Limited will have at least 15 months to complete the Project.
The project will consist of 3 brand new 4-story dormitory buildings, a one-floor activity hall, a one-floor equipment house plus auxiliary projects including greening and road building.
Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare told those gathered at a ground-breaking ceremony to mark the start of construction on the Solomon Islands National University (SINU) dormitory project on Wednesday that his government stands ready to support the constructor to help them deliver the project on time.
“To the contractor, Jiangsu Provincial Construction Group Co. Ltd, thank you for taking on the responsibility to build the 2023 Pacific Games village which will belong to the National University of Solomon Islands after the Games.
“You only have about 15 months to complete the buildings, so it will be extremely tight for you.
“You can count on the support from my government to help you deliver the project on time.
“Also to the Central Pacific architectural design institute. The project managers of this new project as well as the Pacific game stadiums project being built by CCECC. Thank you for ensuring that all project construction work will be completed in time for the games.
“My government stands ready to assist the project managers and the contractors in whatever way we can to ensure the 2023 Pacific Games project are delivered on time and budget,” an energized Sogavare said on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, China’s Ambassador to Solomon Islands H.E. Li Ming said China is honored to make contributions to the future of the Solomon Islands.
H.E Li Ming reiterated that China is committed to building a community of shared future for mankind and stands firmly in helping Solomon Islands friends to achieve its development goals.
“Students studying at the National University of Solomon Islands (SINU) today will become leaders, engineers, doctors, nurses, teachers, and CEOs of the nation in the future, so we are honored to make contributions to the future of Solomon Islands,” H.E Li Ming pointed out.
The Dormitory Buildings when completed will be used first as the Games village for the 2023 Pacific Games next year and then after the Games will be handed over to SINU.
