THE Royal Solomon Islands Police Force is the primary security agency responsible for the XVII Pacific Games 2023 operations.

Everlyn Thugea, Operations Commander of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, highlighted this during a recent National Hosting Authority talk-back show.

According to Thugea, the government has instructed the RSIPF to take the lead in security for the Pacific Games. As a result, the organization has spent the last two years meticulously planning the operations and is currently in the implementation phase.

“RSIPF activated its specific operations on November 6 and will continue for the next three weeks, ending on December 15th.

She stated that the correctional services will provide RSIPF with manpower support for this operation.

She also emphasized that, as part of the Solomon Islands Assistance Force arrangement, our bilateral partners Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji—as well as the local police forces of China and New Zealand—will support RSIPF.

“Over a thousand RSIPF officers work together to carry out these operations,” she said.

The operations commander stated that in order to ensure that this game is a historic, peaceful, and long-lasting occasion for our nation, the RSIPF looks forward to cooperating with all stakeholders, communities, citizens, and participating countries.
