GIZO witnessed its final election parade this morning as voters marched to show their support for their respective candidates.

Eight candidates are vying for the seat as people show their support for the Gizo/Kolombangara constituency.

People, dressed in colorful uniforms, raised flags and banners, while others wore scarves with writing on them.

Visitors and voters from Honiara and surrounding islands also joined the crowd in the provincial capital town.

Most candidates have completed their campaigns and held their final rallies, with just one more day to go before the polls.

During an interview, Frank Mamu, who also participated in the parade, stated that Gizo town was flooded with visitors and voters.

“We have come out in numbers to show our support for the candidate we have chosen. Today marks the final day of the campaign, and some have just rallied support for their candidate,” said Mamu.

Mamu emphasized the need for a leader in Gizo/Kolombangara who will drive development and boost economic activities for those residing in urban Gizo settlements and rural communities.

He called on Gizo residents and surrounding communities to respect each other and abide by the principles of good citizenship in this sovereign nation.

Meanwhile, the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and other assisting forces have been deployed in Gizo to provide security for the election.
