LOKO, the National Secretary of the Solomon Islands’ Wesleyan Methodist Church, expressed his contentment with the recent voting process in the Western Province.

Loko described the election process in Gizo as highly commendable, particularly noting the encouraging turnout of voters.

He emphasized the significance of voters exercising their right to choose the leaders who will guide the nation for the next four years.

“It is reassuring to see that many former Members of Parliament (MPs) have been reelected,” Loko stated.

“A considerable number of incumbent MPs retained their seats across the county, and we have welcomed new representatives who will join their experienced counterparts in forming the next government.”

Loko added, “With this combination, our country looks forward to the establishment of an effective government that will lead our nation and its people.”

“At present, our party holds the majority of seats, and we hope that the upcoming government will prioritize transparency and accountability,” he further commented.

Loko highlighted the church’s anticipation of collaborating closely with the government, particularly in addressing the needs of the people.

Regarding the Gizo/Kolombangara constituency, Loko praised the significant voter turnout and support demonstrated not only in Gizo but also in other areas for electing their respective MPs.

He also acknowledged the election of Gordon Darcy Lilo, a former Prime Minister and MP for the Central Honiara Constituency, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support he received.

“We have several potential MPs who will vie for the position of Prime Minister in the coming days,” Loko stated.

“I appeal to Christians across the entire country to pray for our government and its people during the forthcoming government formation. May our leaders be endowed with wisdom and discernment as they select our next leaders, who will work diligently for the betterment of our nation, the church, and the good people of the Solomon Islands.”
