In Ulawa Island

THE Solomon Islands Rural Development Program (SIRDP) will officially hand over six of its funded projects on Ulawa Island in the Makira Ulawa province in October, next month.

Confirming this, the Makira Ulawa Province SIRDP Provincial Support Unit (PSU) Team Leader, Mrs. Annie Rafeasi said that they will be traveling to Ulawa Island in October for official hand over ceremonies of six of the SIRDP component one(C1) cycle 5 and 6 in six different communities in the three wards on Ulawa Island in the Makira Ulawa province.

“Official  Handing over ceremonies for the SIRDP’s Component one projects on Ulawa is set for next month, October and a delegation which comprises of members of the Makira Ulawa Provincial Government and the Solomon Islands Rural Development Program (SIRDP) will go over to do the official hand over program of the completed projects to respective communities”, she says.

She said that out of the six projects that are to be handed over, three are of the cycle five and another three are from the cycle six projects.

“We have three cycle 5 projects which are all water supply projects and another three of the cycle 6 projects, two school building infrastructures, and another water supply project”, she adds.

Mrs. Rafeasi confirmed that the six projects to be handed over to the people of Ulawa Island are; Ha au community water supply and sanitation project, Rongo lelei community water supply and sanitation project, Aosi community water supply and sanitation project which are of the SIRDP cycle 5, Haraina Kindy staff house project, Ripo Early childhood classroom project and Ale ale water supply and sanitation project which are from the cycle 6 projects.

She said that she is very happy indeed to see that SIRDP project recipients on Ulawa Island are committed to successfully completed their community’s projects for their good.

The SIRDP Team is doing a visit to Ulawa to facilitate operation and management training to successfully completed community projects so that communities take responsibility to look after their projects thereafter.
