More than 100 passionate mission and church leaders from across the Solomon Islands have gathered in Honiara for the South Sea Evangelical Church (SSEC) National Mission Summit, currently being held at the Central Church Hall.
The summit is characterized by purpose and hope, with leaders preparing to share the message of Christ with communities in the Solomon Islands and beyond.

The summit officially opened on Sunday, 16 August at SSEC Central Church and will run until Thursday, 21 August 2025. This year’s summit carries the powerful theme: “God’s Mandate – Our Mission”, inspired by the words of Jesus in Matthew 28:18-20.
Speaking to SUNDAY ISLES, Pastor Paul Allan Ike, Assistant Chairman of the SSEC National Mission Summit Task Force Committee, explained the vision behind the event.
“This summit is all about bringing together mission coordinators from every association in the Solomon Islands,” he said. “We want to equip them with God’s word and send them back prepared to lead and encourage mission work in their local churches.”

Pastor Ike noted that the summit isn’t just for senior leaders. The program also focuses on young people who may soon play a vital role in spreading the Gospel.
“We’re also preparing young people,” he shared. “Next year, we’re expecting a mission ship to arrive in the Solomon Islands. That will be a great opportunity for the youth, and we want them to be ready to serve.”
Participants have traveled from regions including Guadalcanal, Makira, Renbel, Choiseul, Western Province, Honiara City, and more. The summit offers workshops, reflection sessions, and time for leaders to share experiences and strategies for strengthening mission outreach across the islands.

“We are reflecting on what has happened before in our mission work, and also looking at how we can move forward,” said Pastor Ike. “It’s about encouragement, learning, and unity.”
“This mission is not just a program,” Pastor Ike concluded. “It’s a call for action. It’s about going back home, mobilizing the church, and sending more into the mission field.”
