17 October 2025, at Tabalia, Guadalcanal Province. Correctional Service Solomon Islands (CSSI) Anglican Church of Melanesia (ACOM) officers have donated a total of SBD$14,000.00 in cash and goods worth more than SBD$10,000.00 towards the Melanesian Brotherhood 100 Years Anniversary Celebration.
The donation, contributed voluntarily by individual CSSI officers who are members of the Anglican Church, reflects their shared faith and ongoing commitment to supporting the Melanesian Brotherhood mission and community outreach.
The centenary celebration, held under the theme “Celebrating Melanesian Brotherhood Centenary of Ministry, Faith and Mission,” marks a significant milestone in the Brotherhood’s journey of faith, discipline, and service since its founding in 1925 by Ini Kopuria of Guadalcanal.
Speaking on behalf of the CSSI Anglican Officers, Chairman Mr. Bonzio Bako acknowledged the enduring legacy and contribution of the Melanesian Brotherhood to the spiritual growth and unity of communities across the Solomon Islands and the wider Melanesian region.
“As CSSI ACOM members, from our hearts we are truly happy to provide this donation in support of this important celebration. It is one way we show our faith through giving and fellowship”, says Chairman Bako.
“The Brotherhood has been a shining example of humble leadership and service to others — values that also guide us in our daily duties as correctional officers. Through this small gesture, we hope to contribute to the continuation of their mission of peace, discipline, and faith.”
Melanesian Brotherhood, Chaplain Fr. Richard Nokia expressed deep appreciation to the CSSI Anglican members for their generosity and spirit of giving.
“We sincerely thank our brothers and sisters from CSSI for this kind support and their act of faith. Your gift strengthens our mission and reminds us that God’s work is shared through the hands of many”.
“Your contribution is not only material but spiritual, and it brings joy to our hearts as we celebrate 100 years of faithful service and brotherhood in Christ.”
The Melanesian Brotherhood’s centenary celebration stands as a testimony to a century of Christian witness and service to communities throughout Melanesia — a legacy that continues to inspire faith and unity among all believers.
